KraftMaid Construction in Muscoy, CA | Elmwood Contractors
We install, reface, and repair KraftMaid cabinetry throughout Muscoy, and we do it as an independent contractor – not a manufacturer rep. What makes our work here different is that we account for Muscoy’s county-island jurisdiction before we touch a cabinet: a KraftMaid kitchen remodel in 92405 often has to clear San Bernardino County Land Use Services plan check, not city inspectors. We also provide KraftMaid service in San Bernardino proper when your project falls inside city limits. If you need KraftMaid cabinets installed, refaced, or rebuilt in Muscoy, call (866) 253-8554 for a free estimate.
Why Muscoy Residents Choose Us for KraftMaid Service
We’ve worked on KraftMaid cabinetry in enough mid-century Muscoy homes to know the difference between a finish problem and a structural one. Nolan Shepherd, who owns Elmwood Contractors, learned cabinetry and framing the old way – through Fullerton College’s construction technology program and years of ground-up residential work before spending two decades running crews that set cabinets plumb the first time. We name the brands going into your home before the contract is signed. That matters when you’re deciding whether to reface a KraftMaid kitchen or start over, because the answer depends on what’s actually behind those doors. We’re an independent KraftMaid sales & service contractor serving Muscoy service area homeowners who want one accountable crew handling cabinets, counters, and the permits that come with them.

Common KraftMaid Construction Problems We Solve in Muscoy
- Finish cracking on west-facing door fronts. The dry inland heat in Muscoy, especially in summer when afternoon sun blasts through west-facing windows, bakes the paint film on older KraftMaid doors. Checking and cracking along stiles and rails is one of the most common service calls we get. We replace affected door fronts and, where the finish keeps failing, we’ll recommend a more heat-stable option.
- Swollen, delaminated particleboard boxes. KraftMaid’s older particleboard-core bases fail when a slow sink or dishwasher leak goes unnoticed. That’s a regular story in Muscoy’s older wood-frame homes where plumbing was retrofitted decades after the original build. Once the box swells, refacing won’t save it – replacement is the only durable fix.
- Sagging doors and dead self-close glides. Seasonal heat swings and Santa Ana dust work their way into hinges and drawer glides. Doors sag, drawers no longer self-close, and the hardware wears unevenly. We replace worn OEM hinges and glides, and we’ll upgrade to quality aftermarket soft-close hardware where the original KraftMaid parts are discontinued.
- Racked cabinets on out-of-plumb walls. A lot of Muscoy housing includes self-built additions and rooms that were never perfectly square. Even a correctly built KraftMaid box will gap at the reveals and bind on the frame when it’s hung on a wall that’s out of plumb. We shim, scribe, and adjust before we set, so the cabinet works rather than fights the wall.
- Code-enforcement triggers on unpermitted kitchen work. A common path to our door in Muscoy is a county code enforcement notice citing an unpermitted kitchen or garage conversion. If we’re rebuilding that space with KraftMaid cabinets, we handle the County Land Use Services permit and inspection process as part of the job.
KraftMaid Service in Muscoy: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Muscoy is an unincorporated island surrounded by the City of San Bernardino, which means a KraftMaid kitchen or bathroom remodel here answers to San Bernardino County Land Use Services rather than city inspectors. That’s a different plan-check queue, a different permit portal, and different inspection scheduling than KraftMaid repair in Rialto or other nearby city-limit jobs. For a cabinet replacement that’s surface-level – doors, drawer fronts, hardware – we may not need to pull anything. But the moment a remodel touches framing, plumbing, or electrical, which most real kitchens do, you’re in the county system. We manage that entire path from the first plan submittal to the final sign-off. The right material in the right place. Everything else is just catching up to that decision.
KraftMaid Models & Products We Service in Muscoy
We install and service the KraftMaid Vantage series, the entry-level all-plywood line that holds up well to inland heat if it’s kept dry. We also work with Momentum series framed and frameless door styles, plus Choice series semi-custom cabinetry and the quartz and laminate-topped vanity and base cabinet lines. When the boxes are square and sound, we source genuine KraftMaid replacement doors, drawer fronts, hinges, and glides. When OEM parts are discontinued, we spec quality aftermarket hardware that fits correctly. Our stance on refacing versus replacing is simple: solid boxes are worth refacing, swollen particleboard is not.

FAQs – KraftMaid Construction in Muscoy
Yes, if the boxes are solid and square, refacing with new KraftMaid doors and drawer fronts is usually the most cost-effective route. We’ll inspect for swollen particleboard, racked frames, and hardware wear first. If the boxes have taken water damage, replacement is the only durable option. Call (866) 253-8554 and we’ll tell you which one you have.
It depends on scope. A straight cabinet and countertop swap typically doesn’t. Moving plumbing, adding electrical circuits, taking down a wall, or rebuilding after a code-enforcement citation does, and Muscoy’s county-island status means that permit runs through San Bernardino County Land Use Services rather than city hall. We pull and close those permits as part of the job.
Usually yes. On a mid-century stucco home off Muscoy’s county-island streets in 92405, we tore out a leak-swollen KraftMaid base cabinet run under a window that had cooked the door finish for years, refaced the sound uppers with new KraftMaid fronts and soft-close glides, and set a quartz top over fresh plywood boxes. We pulled the County Land Use Services permit for the plumbing and electrical tie-ins before we set the first cabinet, so the code-enforcement file that started this kitchen got closed out with the remodel.
The main culprit is direct afternoon sun through west-facing windows raising the surface temperature of the door. Start with a heat-blocking window film or an exterior shade. Beyond that, choose a door style and finish that handles thermal cycling better than the older paint-grade fronts. We can match new doors to your existing layout without replacing the boxes. Call (866) 253-8554 for a finish recommendation and a quote.
A cabinet install in Muscoy typically runs $4,000 to $13,000, countertops land between $2,000 and $6,500, and a small kitchen remodel with KraftMaid cabinets, new counters, and a backsplash usually falls between $9,000 and $20,000. Full kitchen remodels start around $14,000 and can reach $45,000 depending on structural work and finishes. Call (866) 253-8554 for a line-item estimate on your exact scope – it’s free.
