PGT Construction in Highland, CA | Elmwood Contractors
PGT construction service in Highland means working on impact windows and sliding glass doors that have to survive triple-digit Inland Empire heat, Santa Ana wind grit, and a geography split between flat valley tracts and graded foothill pads. We handle the full PGT repair and replacement range across Highland’s 92346 zip code as an independent contractor, using genuine PGT parts and matching original series profiles. One thing separates our PGT work here: we know how Highland’s two building generations fail differently, and we spec the fix accordingly. Call (866) 253-8554 for a free estimate.
Why Highland Residents Choose Us for PGT Service
We’ve serviced and installed PGT in San Bernardino County, including Highland, long enough to recognize failure patterns before they become full replacements. The WinGuard Vinyl units in a 1960s tract home off Baseline fail differently than the WinGuard Aluminum doors in a 2010s subdivision near the 210. Highland’s housing stock spans those two generations within blocks of each other, and the PGT units in each were installed under different building codes, different flashing standards, and different expectations about what the soil underneath would do over time.
Nolan Shepherd runs Elmwood Contractors. He grew up in Fullerton’s Sunny Hills neighborhood, where the late-’60s tract homes taught him early which construction details hold and which ones don’t. The lesson carried: we don’t guess at PGT repairs or push replacements when a set of OEM rollers and fresh weatherstripping restores the door. We name the parts and the reason before work starts, and we stand behind the job. That’s how we’ve built our name across Highland.

Common PGT Construction Problems We Solve in Highland
- Heat-cycled vinyl frame welds and weatherstripping. Highland’s triple-digit summer afternoons bake PGT vinyl frames. Over enough seasons, corner welds fatigue and weatherstripping takes a set, so air and water start sneaking through at the seams. We replace the worn seals and re-weld or reinforce where the frame allows it.
- Santa Ana grit wearing down track rollers. Wind-driven dust and sand from the foothills and open valley abrade PGT aluminum tracks and rollers. Sliding doors start to drag, then bind, then refuse to lock square. We rebuild the rollers with OEM parts and reset the door so it seals tight again.
- Failed flashing on graded foothill pads. Highland homes on the elevated streets toward the Crafton Hills sit on cut-and-fill pads that shift. PGT units installed into those openings lose their flashing bond, and winter runoff finds the gap. We pull the unit, rebuild the sill pan, and re-flash to drain.
- Glazing seal failure and edge delamination on older impact glass. PGT impact laminates can haze or fog at the edges as the interlayer separates over time. No amount of cleaning clears it. We match the glass to the original WinGuard series and replace the affected panel, not the whole window.
- Drag-and-bind doors on dust-loaded tracks. Highland’s dry-season dust mixes with the occasional rain to form a paste that grinds down track surfaces. The fix is cleaning, OEM roller replacement, and adjusting the strike alignment, which costs a fraction of a door replacement.
PGT Service in Highland: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Highland sits where the Crafton Hills meet the valley floor, and that split geography drives how PGT windows and doors wear here. Homes on the elevated streets toward the foothills sit on graded pads and slopes. The soil under those pads settles, the rough openings shift, and the flashing that was watertight on day one starts letting water under the sill. Flat-lot tract homes a few blocks down never see that problem. So when a PGT repair in Muscoy or Highland foothill street leaks or drags, the fix isn’t just rollers and seals. It’s re-flashing the opening, rebuilding the sill pan, and tying the drainage back into the pad so the next winter rain goes where it’s supposed to. We’ve done that work on enough Highland foothill lots to know the difference between a door that failed and an opening that failed underneath it.
PGT Models & Products We Service in Highland
Our crews work on the PGT lines most common in Highland: WinGuard Aluminum impact windows and sliding glass doors, WinGuard Vinyl impact units, the PremierVue and PGT Aluminum Series windows, and the vinyl single-hung and sliding windows that went into older tract replacements years ago. For parts, we source genuine PGT glass, hardware, rollers, and weatherstripping so the repaired unit keeps its original profile and impact rating. When a frame or glass seal is structurally shot, we’ll tell you straight and quote a full replacement. Otherwise, we repair first. For larger window and door projects, our PGT sales & service coverage carries the same approach everywhere we work.

What you’ll pay depends on whether we’re repairing a sealed unit, replacing a panel, or doing a full impact-window install. Highland’s foothill lots sometimes add flashing and rough-opening work that flat-lot homes don’t need; we quote that separately so you see exactly what the slope adds. Every estimate is free, written, and line-itemed before any work starts.

FAQs – PGT Construction in Highland
Because the pads under those foothill homes settle and shift, throwing the rough opening out of square and breaking the sill flashing bond. Flat valley tracts don’t move the same way. When we service a foothill PGT door, we rebuild the sill pan and re-flash the opening before we reset the door, so the repair lasts past the next winter rain. Call (866) 253-8554 for a free estimate if your door is dragging.
Yes. We source genuine PGT glass matched to the original WinGuard series, so the replacement panel keeps the same profile, tint, and impact rating as the rest of the window. We don’t swap in generic glass and call it done. If the fogging is edge delamination from heat cycling, we’ll replace just the affected panel.
Sometimes, and it depends on the lot. Homes on graded foothill pads often need the rough opening rebuilt and re-flashed before the new PGT unit goes in. Flat-lot tract homes usually don’t. We assess each opening and tell you if reframing is needed, with the cost broken out before you commit. Call (866) 253-8554 and we’ll walk the property.
Triple-digit summers from PGT service in Loma Linda to Highland cycle the vinyl through extreme expansion and contraction. Over years, that fatigues frame welds and compresses weatherstripping, opening small air and water leaks at the corners. We inspect the welds and seals and replace what’s failed before the leak grows into stucco or drywall damage.
We do it regularly. Highland’s short winter rain window means window flashing and roof flashing need to work as one system. Since we’re a full-scope contractor, we can install your PGT impact windows and handle the adjacent roof flashing in the same job, under one plan. Call (866) 253-8554 for a combined quote.
